It can be very frustrating to see the Telegram iOS message “This group can’t be displayed because it was used to spread pornographic content.” Here’s how to fix it so you can use Telegram on your iPhone or other iOS device:
Head over to https://web.telegram.org/ and log in to the account you want to un-restrict. You won’t need to download anything.
Don't miss out! Join the best Mexico chat for legal red-light district fun. For only
$29February Sale: $18 you can get exclusive reviews, news, updates, and more inside our Telegram group chat. Click here for access -> https://t.me/+ijNTehpF95s5M2Ux
Please note, you will need to repeat these steps for each Telegram account you are trying to apply the fix to. For example if you have one account named “Jim200” and another as “Jim500,” the fix will only apply to the account you log into.
Find the “burger” menu with three horizontal lines, then click “Settings” as in the image below.
Once in Settings, click “Privacy and Security.”
Then, click “Disable filtering” as in the image below, under the “Sensitive Content” header.
After ensuring “Disable filtering” is turned on, you can exit the menu.
On your iOS device, you may wish to close the app and then re-open it. We tested it on an iPhone and it is working.
Why does this happen?
It seems completely inappropriate that a user should need to go through these steps to access groups and talk to others in 2022. Strangely, the Android Play Store version of Telegram does not seem to have this problem.
Many iOS apps such as Chrome, Safari, and Reddit allow adult content. Thus, we think the “blame” is on Telegram. You can give them a “piece of your mind” at https://twitter.com/telegram. At the very least, one should be able to disable “Child filters” in the app itself, not needing to go into a desktop browser!
